Personally, I’m looking forward to February purely for the reason that it brings us one step closer to spring. I’ve got projects on hold waiting for warmer weather. I’ve been baking more lately. I tend to bake in the cold months. There’s something so soothing about taking a toasty treat out of the oven that lifts the winter blues.
And so, onto this month’s edition of Currently!
Sending – I’ve got two things when it comes to sending. What I am actually sending and what I wish I were sending. Right now I’m sending out ATC blanks. I’m pretty proud of figuring out how to make these in Cricut Design Space. Now, what I’m not sending out, cards. I really had meant to have some created by now for upcoming birthdays.
Eating – I’ve been doing more cooking at home and trying to actually use what’s in my pantry. I’m working at clearing our pantry from pre-made items. I’ve found a terrific cornbread recipe that Grandpa will happily gobble down. I won’t claim that any of my meals have been ground breaking but it’s been a fun use of all those ideas I have on Pinterest. The real winner this month has been my find through Averie Cooks. I happened across a recipe of hers on Pinterest and that led me to this blondie goldmine. The latest one I made was her Snickerdoodle bars which are pictured there. I really can’t describe these to you. Trust me, just bake them. The pan will empty quickly but since it’s an 8×8 pan it’s not too much guilt.
Dreaming – I can’t stop thinking about camping season. Grandpa and I have plans to camp more in the mountains this year. To be honest, I have never really been a camper but I caught the bug. I’ve already been checking out sites and trying to get Grandpa to agree to some dates. I’m particularly excited about getting into the mountains. I’m an Oregon girl at heart and no matter how long I live in Idaho, I always find myself missing the beautiful green that just completely surrounds you in Oregon.
Smelling – Cut wood. I’ve been graced to have the scent of fresh-cut wood in my studio this past month. Between working on projects for and in the studio this past month there hasn’t barely been a day that I haven’t been blessed to walk into my studio and been lucky enough to inhale that one of a kind smell. I’ve still got lots of sanding to do but spring is coming.
Hearting – My husband. Not to get mushy but I really have been blessed to have a great husband. We are coming up on 5 years together and I’m happy to say that we have yet to have a fight. Words cannot express how lucky I feel to have this man by my side. This past year has been especially trying as I’ve made the transition from main bread-winner to being disabled. Many of the things we’ve gone through could have led to disagreements and hurt feelings. Somehow we’ve come through stronger as a couple and as individuals. I wish I could explain it but the way it works is just so natural that I often find myself mystified just thinking about it.
Thanks again to Anna and Jenna for sharing these prompts!
Be sure to come back next month when the topics will be wishing, craving, going, wearing and learning. If you missed last month, here’s a handy link.
Until next time…
