I just love the internet. No seriously, I love it. Especially when I run across exactly what I was looking for without realizing I was looking for it. Once again my friend Angie comes to the rescue! I came across her Currently – January post and thought to myself what a clever friend I have. She comes up with such creative posts. Except it wasn’t just her. Apparently there’s a prompt offered once a month by Anne of In Residence and Jenna of Gold and Bloom.
And there you have it. I had it in my mental to do list to find out more about these linkup things I come across occasionally. Of course I’m familiar with something like it with the Zentangle challenges I participate in but this somewhat different. So, something new to participate in. Looks like this will be a monthly thing. Since I usually talk more about the project I’m working on this will help me to engage on another level. And so…here we go.
Resolving – Currently I have two areas of focus. First is my word of 2016. I’ve started work on a piece for my studio door that features my word. At the moment its all ink but I may be using some watercolor on it. The second is being consistent in the use of my new planner. I just love the size. Grandpa grabbed me some great colorful pens and that is helping me stay on track. I’ve also been spending time thinking about what is next in my life.
Reading – I haven’t been doing much reading lately but I have been listening to an audiobook. Hyperion by Dan Simmons was recommended to me by my friend Logan. He’s been telling me about it for years and I finally broke down and grabbed the audiobook. I do love a good audiobook. So many times I’ve had a perfectly good book ruined by a bad reader. No such issue this time around. I enjoy that they have different readers for different main characters. In some cases this can be distracting but it’s so well done in this book. I really enjoy putting this book on while sewing or drawing. In addition to the characters being quite well read (or is it performed?) the book is darned good! Don’t expect a book review from me. I either recommend a book or I don’t. If you want to know what it’s about there’s plenty of other sources. I’m over halfway through and I’ve already grabbed the others in the series. I do see that they are narrated by another person altogether. Fingers crossed that he’s good too.
Organizing – Ah. Organizing. To be honest, I’m constantly organizing. And re-organizing. Currently though it’s my studio. We are in the middle of quite the build and I’m working on making sure to document it all. I’m overwhelmed by how amazing the space is going to be. It’s going to take a while but it’s so worth it. The nice thing is that I’m slowly moving back in. Making decisions is not as easy as it was pre-stroke. At the rate I’m going I’ll have it all sorted out in a few years. It will be worth the wait.
Loving – Right now I’m loving the lighting that Grandpa installed for me this week. We had some grow lights from a failed indoor herb garden experiment. Grandpa had the very clever idea to install them above my beautiful new desk. Now I have beautiful pure light. An unexpected bonus is that I can shoot pictures on the desk with some pretty decent lighting without having to wait for the sun to get to the right spot. Or to come out at all really. After all, it’s January in Idaho.
Craving – A place to sand! I have a ton of sanding to do for three projects. Normally I would sand on the porch but again…Idaho. January. I’m ready for spring! This is one of the few times I wish we had a garage.
Well this was sure fun! Thanks again to Anne & Jenna for sharing these prompts!
Until next time…
