I am a mom at heart. Just because I didn’t have the chance to be a mother to my own biological child all of her life it doesn’t mean that didn’t always have the heart of a mother. I mother everyone around me. My friends. My coworkers. And now, of course, my new family.
The other day I mentioned to Grandpa that I needed to take something to work for one of my coworkers because I knew that it was something they would enjoy. He made a little comment that made me wonder if he wasn’t feeling a little neglected. So later I asked him if he was needing a little bit of my attention as well.
He said that he was and was kind of missing all of the treats that I have been cooking him before we found out about his fatty liver. I’ve been trying to find other substitutes for ways to show him that I love him. But Grandpa needed a treat.
So I went this afternoon to make some rice crispy treats for him. Of course I threw in some heart healthier cereal other than just the rice crispies. I also managed to not add in chocolate chips or chunks of Reese’s even though I know those make it extra nom.
And once again I found that I had completed an entire project has not taken out my camera. Sure it’s just rice crispy treats. Nothing groundbreaking here, but it was something from my kitchen and that’s what I’m trying to do on this blog.
Little snippets of my life as I make this house into a home. So without stopping to pull out the light box, reflector or the tripod, I grabbed my iPhone and took a picture and sent it to Grandpa.
