I’ve seen this challenge a couple of times but had yet to participate. Joey has been doing the Alphabet Monotangle Challenge for a while now. I’ve checked it out weekly since I discovered it but none of them spoke to me until this week. It’s the Maryhill monotangle. After re-reading the post I realized that I have been misreading this challenge all along. It just goes to show how my reading comprehension has declined since the stroke.
I saw “alphabet” and immediately jumped to the conclusion that the tiles were supposed to be letters and then the added element of whatever tangle pattern she had picked. Who knows maybe I’ve developed my own challenge. I’ll give that some thought. No reason to do that until I’ve got more followers. I had used Maryhill in a previous tile. I enjoyed it even though it was small so I was liking the idea of using it in a monotangle.
Joey sets up her Mister Linky’s Magical Widget differently than Diva and Erin do. On hers you can see a thumbnail of other entries, which I do like. Once I revised in my head from a monogram to a straight up monotangle I could see that my initial ideas were already done and so I set about thinking how I could make mine unique and still work only with Maryhill.
I ended up layering a few shapes and then going from there. I admit that I played around a little with making small variations on the auras just to see what would happen.
Until next time…
