This week’s Diva Challenge is from guest blogger Erin at The Bright Owl. I must have had a sixth sense because for the past week I’ve been entertaining trying a Zendela, which is a mandala that is filled with tangles. Well wait no more, that’s the challenge. Not as scary as it might seem because Erin provided a template. I must admit I was a little excited at the thought of working on one. Here’s a little picture of the template. If you want the actual template with three sizes on it Erin has provided a link.
Erin also does a weekly Zendela challenge, also with a template so I’m adding that to my list of challenges to keep an eye on.
Once all is said and done, here is my variation. Tangle patterns used were Cirquital, Chartz, Ennies and Maryhill. If there are others, I don’t know it. The rest was just doodling. I knew from the start that it would bother me that things weren’t perfectly symmetrical, so I let that idea go out the window and just drew. There’s a few things I’d change looking at the finished product but every one is a learning experience, right?
I looked at some of the other entries after I got stuck at one point, everything seemed so floral so I went in a very different direction with an almost tribal theme. I had a different idea for the section that I put Maryhill in but there just wasn’t enough room. I actually stopped to sketch that out on some scratch paper and I’m very glad that I did.
This one took me several days just because I didn’t have much time to draw. It won’t be my last Zendela and I’ll be keeping my eye on Erin’s weekly challenge as well.
