I’ve been in the market for a coloring book for a while. I had a pretty long list of what I was looking for and I’m happy to say that I finally found the one that fit the bill. It is the Vive Le Color! Mandala coloring book by Abrams. I was able to check out the other books in this series and while they are great, they aren’t my cup of tea.
I really like the size of the book and I also like that the paper was a bit heavier and should be able to stand up to watercolor or markers according to the back of the book.
I also appreciated that the pages tore off cleanly and overall I think I would recommend the series of books for anyone.
As I work my way through the book I’ll be sharing more of the ones that I’ve enjoyed working with. After all they can’t all be winners.
For this first one it’s simply done in colored pencil whatever I had on hand from the grandkids nothing special there. And I did use a Derwent color blender. I really like the results from that gave it a dreamier almost batik looking texture at times which was really fun to photograph.
Until next time…
